This is the front entrance to the Roger Williams Park Zoo.  It's even nice to visit in the winter when animals that survive in colder habitats come out to say hello!

Here is an excellent view from the Waterplace Park of the many places that weren't here when I arrived fifteen years ago, and were just an architectural rendering in the Providence Journal or not even conceived of at the time as being located in downtown Providence.  From left to right you see the Marriott Courtyard, the Rotunda to the Rhode Island Convention Center, the Westin Hotel, the skywalk which connects the hotel with Providence Place Mall.

And because Providence is the capitol of Rhode Island, you get to visit the statehouse also located in downtown Providence and just across from the train station.  The train station is an excellent quality-of-life facility to have in a city because it provides access to transportation that will make connections to most cities on the eastern seaboard.
